Why Visual Novel Lessons will replace Video Lessons in e-learning

Visual Novel × Education

Novelitas is an EdTech project aimed at creating Visual Novel-style lessons in 2023.

Why Visual Novel × Education? Let me explain.

Are Video Lessons perfect?

Video Lessons have played an important role in the development of e-learning. However, I believe they have three weaknesses.

1.Limited Accessibility

Some people say that video lessons can reduce educational disparities, but I don’t think so.

Video lessons are heavy in file-size, so they require Wi-Fi.

Therefore, they may not reach people in underserved regions.

2.Not interactive

Video-based learning is entirely passive. Video lessons don’t require users’ operation. Are they really effective?

3.Not inclusive

Video lessons often lack high-quality subtitles. So deaf people may not enjoy them.

Visual Novel Lessons

I propose Visual Novel Lesson as a solution to these issues in video lessons.

Here’s why.

1.High accessibility

Visual Novel Lessons are extremely lightweight. Our Model 1 is in 12KB-15KB(about 5 minutes lesson) allowing people in underserved regions to access lessons without Wi-Fi.

2.Interactivity

Visual Novel Lessons are interactive. They require user engagement such as pushing buttons and selecting answers to quizzes.

3.Inclusivity

Visual Novel Lessons have beautiful subtitles which deaf people want in digital lessons.

Conclusion

Visual Novel Lessons can solve some of the issues video lesson have.

I believe they will be the next standard of e-learning.
